The next day is called "wangnao" (smelly meaning). This day is considered unclean. We should bathe, wash our hair, cut our hair, change our clothes, wash the Buddha statues and pagodas. At night, we will hold a parade, set off fireworks and Kongming lights, and send away all the diseases, disasters and dirty things of the year, so as to enter the new year cleanly. In the Dai calendar, these two days are regarded as "empty days", which are not called in the old year or included in the new year.
